Rockville, MD – January 6, 2015 – Hillcrest Labs today announced that ALCATEL ONETOUCH, one the leading mobile phone brands, has licensed Hillcrest’s patented Freespace® software to provide advanced sensor-based functionality on ALCATEL ONETOUCH’s smartwatch.

Specifically, Hillcrest’s Freespace MotionEngine™ software powers a sensor hub that provides always on context awareness, activity tracking and intuitive gesture recognition functionality. Hillcrest’s software extends the battery life with context aware power savings, simplifies the user experience, and enables users to effortlessly track their daily fitness-related activities, such as walking and running. The solution is optimized for the HMD market, and can be customized for other wearable computing applications.
